This is one of my favorite urban legends from my area. I used to live in a town that's part of the area known as Hell Town. In fact, the "road closed" sign pictured on the link was at the end of the road I lived on. I was reminded of this legend because I drove through the middle of Hell Town the other day, taking a backroad shortcut. www.prairieghosts.com/helltown.html

I'm reading through this and this made me lmao:
"The home to this spirit is said to be Boston Cemetery. And while people still continue to report seeing this ghost sitting on a bench in the cemetery, there's one major problem: there are NO benches in Boston Cemetery."

I liked the way the Ghosts of Ohio people dispel the rumors by first stating the legend(s), then the truth. It's very tongue and cheek- entertaining read! Another snippet that made me laugh-
"Legend: A whole busload of children were slaughtered in the woods by (choose your favorite from the list below):
•A serial killer
•A band of serial killers
•An escaped mental patient
•Several escaped mental patients
•A group of Satanists or cult members"

I went there when I was around 16. It was creepy, but then again it was dark and unfamiliar. We went back during the day later on that year and it wasn't strange at all. If you've ever seen a rundown house or some cars at junkyard, nothing stands out here. It's a pretty locale with some nice woods, but I would say the only thing scary about this place is the local residents. I didn't want to spend too much time there, I thought someone would want to hear me squeal like a pig!

I used to be a local resident there! Here's another story about the area that is NOT an urban legend. The house that's pictured on that link was recently moved. The house was privately owned but sat on government land. The police were tired of dealing with cult activity in and around the house and ordered the owner to move it. Someone I used to work with lives across the street from the new location and I drove by and saw it sitting there waiting for the new foundation. Creepy looking house for sure. BTW - Bowl, you sho do have a purdy mouth.

Drive down the main road at the edge of "Hell Town" any day and you can almost always see at least one of them walking down the road. Thankfully, the nearby facility doesn't house deranged murders or anything. It still makes you run from the car to the house at night though.

C'mon Foz, let's possie up the Ohioans and do our own investigation. I laugh at these urban legends, the only good they ever did me was the fact that we could take girls there and when they were scared, we would use that to our advantage.

Well, not as common as mailboxes (lol) but not an uncommon site either. I used to see at least 1 a week during winter and every other day or so in nice weather. For obvious reasons, I hated living there.

I think that any town that has a problem with escaped mental patients should have their school colors be orange and white. That way everyone will blend. Tourists driving by would not be frightened, they would excited about the hometown spirit!

I drove out this direction today and got a pic of the house. It was moved over a year ago but it's still sitting there on the moving platform.
