lol Area 51 to me could be anything and nothing at the same time. I have a lot of military men in the family, and many know about this area and no one speaks a word about it. even my uncle who worked at the Pentagon, never said anything. I personally think this is nothing but a fib made up by the government to scare us into thinking there are aliens and covering up their own lil indescretions.

Post anything that has to do with Area 51. Post your opinions or comments that have to do with Area 51. Area 51 is a real area in the Nevada desert. And, the government does have a testing facility there. People who live near there reported strange flying machines at night for years before the Stealth Fighter was revealed to the public. I think the B-2 was also developed there, I could be wrong about that one. Whether or not any UFO stuff goes on there, I don't know. But it is a real place and real flying machines are developed and tested there.

Is area 51 any where near where they did all the nuclear testing in the 50's. I do believe that the government covered something up. If there was something there I dont believe it is there anymore.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Area 51 is a remote tract of land in the southwestern portion of Lincoln County in southern Nevada in the western United States. Situated at its center, on the southern shore of a dry lakebed (salt lake), is a large military airfield, one of the most secretive places in the world. The base's primary purpose is to support development and testing of experimental aircraft and weapons systems.[1][2]
The base lies within the United States Air Force's vast Nevada Test and Training Range. Although the facilities at the range are managed by the 99th Air Base Wing at Nellis Air Force Base, the Groom facility appears to be run as an adjunct of the Air Force Flight Test Center (AFFTC) at Edwards Air Force Base in the Mojave Desert, around 160 miles (260 km) from Groom (AFFTC homepage), and as such the base is known as Air Force Flight Test Center (Detachment 3).[3][4]
Other names used for the facility include Dreamland, Paradise Ranch,[5] Home Base, Watertown Strip, Groom Lake[6] and most recently Homey Airport.[7] The area is part of the Nellis Military Operations Area, and military pilots refer to the forbidden airspace around it (R-4808N[8]) as The Box.
The intense secrecy surrounding the base, the very existence of which the US Government barely acknowledges, has led it to become the frequent subject of conspiracy theories and UFO folklore.
Geography Map showing Area 51, NAFR, and the NTSArea 51 shares a border with the Yucca Flats region of the Nevada Test Site (NTS), the location of many of the US Department of Energy's nuclear weapons tests. The Yucca Mountain nuclear storage facility is approximately 40 miles (64 km) southwest of Groom Lake.
The designation "Area 51" is contentious, appearing on older maps of the NTS but not newer ones[citation needed], yet the same naming scheme is used for other parts of the Nevada Test Site.[9][10]
The area is connected to the internal NTS road network, with paved roads leading south to Mercury and west to Yucca Flats. Leading northeast from the lake, the wide and well-maintained Groom Lake Road runs through a pass in the Jumbled Hills. The road formerly led to mines in the Groom basin, but has been improved since their closure. Its winding course runs past a security checkpoint, but the restricted area around the base extends further east. (Unauthorized visitors who travel west on Groom Lake Road are usually observed first by guards located on the hills surrounding the pass, still several miles from the checkpoint). After leaving the restricted area (marked by numerous warning signs stating that "photography is prohibited" and that "use of deadly force is authorized" under the terms of the 1950 McCarran Internal Security Act) Groom Lake Road descends eastward to the floor of the Tikaboo Valley, passing the dirt-road entrances to several small ranches, before converging with Nevada State Route 375, the "Extraterrestrial Highway", south of Rachel.

I think it could have been some experimental government air craft. But I do believe in UFO's too.

The latest aircraft rumored to fly out of area 51 is project aurora. 10 years from now the govt will probably admit to it, if it's a keeper.I can remember popular science having pictures and artist renderings of the F117A and the B2 ten years before the Govt admitted to their existence. They are definitly flying something out of there. The government recently paved and increased the landing strips according to satellite photo's.

I think the flying wing and other jet fighters came out of there. I would not be surprised if they were testing some new aircraft there now. The F-20 and F-22 are still not yet being mass produced, but they will be.
I was watching a show on the History channel on UFOs last night and it was amazing some of the photos that NASA has shot over the years. Also, the number of astronauts that now believe in UFOs.

I watched a documentary on this before. It showed how the workers park some where farther away and then get bussed in. The reporter video taped that footaged and then followed some of them home at night to try to question them. They would not talk about it at all. It's all very secretive and like others here, I believe there is a lot of top secret testing going on there as well as inteventions of new crafts.

As I recall the name 'Area 51' was simply the quadrant map of the area. Next to it was area 52, 53, etc. I don't know if it has anything to do with UFOs, other than technically any unidentified flying object is a UFO. The F-117s were UFOs until they were presented to the world. Does Area 51 have anything to do with ships from outer space? I don't know and am somewhat dubious.

I've been told that there are some areas or Area 51 where if you go too far its shoot first and ask questions later. I really don't believe in aliens or UFO's but who knows what they're doing out there.
