I'm always amazed at the effect of dreams on my life. Night Terrors, Lucid Dreams, reoccurring dreams, dreams about family members that have moved on, noisy dreams that wake you up, flying dreams, inspirational dreams, brightly colored dreams, dreams so real that you wonder what actually is real when you wake up.... The list is endless. What we dream may just be "all in our head", but some people think that when we dream we are more sensitive to things such as paranormal phenomenon. Personally, I don't think it matters because real or not they can have a profound influence on us. I thought this might be an interesting topic. To get things started, here is a link to a Dream Dictionary: www.smartgirl.org/dreamdictionary.htmlIs this sort of thing fun/useful/stupid? Or should we just figure out our dreams on our own?

I had a class that we read and discussed Freud's theory on dream interpretation. And then we had to write a paper recounting one of our dreams and then using Freud interpret it!!!
It was fun, but difficult to understand exactly why I always dream about loosing my shoes during finals week!!
Shoes = studying for finals
I don't do well in math so that is why this was a problem for me!!! It looks like a math problem to me!!!

I always hated the sort of classes that make you give up such personal stuff. (It doesn't help that I had compromising dreams that included certain professors.) No wonder I ended up in Science, I prefer questions with only one answer.

comprimising dreams? whoa!!! Well I got to choose which dream I analyzed!! For this kind of projet I would exercise caution as to which dream I picked!!! So I think I would have refrained from picking the dream where you are throwing a pie inteh profs face while lecturing!!!

Shoes = studying for finals I don't do well in math so that is why this was a problem for me!!! It looks like a math problem to me!!! For what it's worth, my interpretation off the cuff: Shoes... you need them to move forward, take you places. Finals... you need them to move forward, take you places in life.

Nice explaination, Blondeness! I know that in tealeaf reading shoes mean that some effort is needed to move on to greater things and new experiences. That would apply nicely to studying for finals too.

This is from the above mentioned website!
Shoe Wearing comfortable shoes or shoes that you love in your dream indicate you are becoming comfortable with all parts of your personality. If you dream that your shoes are dirty and ragged, you will make enemies if you continue to criticize people. New shoes signify positive changes.
But it doesn't say anything about loosing ones shoes!!!

Lit: Perhaps losing your shoes signifies an underlying fear of being able to move forward...
Also, strangely, I've not found any dream interpretations applicable to my dreams. Symbolisms seems to be very personal rather than universal in nature. IMHO...
Sandstone: I really connect with you on the whole dream thing. I have had a few very profound dreams- the symbolism becomes very clear when I am able to audibly share it with another person- have you had that happen? One dream I had a few years ago still haunts my life today- Perhaps too personal to share on a semi-public forum, though.

I rarely have "symbolic" dreams. Mine tend to be very realistic and "normal". lol I did however have a couple recent dreams that made me wake up and think "wait....was that real??" I could actually taste, feel, smell and experience emotions in them. In one, I actually woke up in bed in the dream and thought reality had been a dream. Quite confusing!

No matter what a dream dictionary says, I think the truest answers always come from within.

I used to have dreams about home when I was homesick and living in a foriegn country. They would seem so real. Unfortunately, when I woke up and found myself still away from home, I used to feel even more homesick!

I love to figure out my dreams in fact I have a dream journal where I write down my dreams in. I watched something on the discovery channel which said that dreams are just your brain showing you images of whatever it wants too. I think the show was called Pushing the limits. It was a really good show.
