Good I will look forward to it! I also love that you are dealing with the axioms of superstitions! Please definitely post something here the day the book comes out. Thats great we are starting a book club here and we will be sure to make it one of our reads. Maybe you could even answer questions about it after everyone has read it.

So you are adhering to the 80/20 rule? Unlike that of TAPS that SAY they follow that rule, but their stats prove that 55% of the time when they show up they will find something!!!
Good Luck with your presentation!
And your upcoming book release!

Thanks for your kind words! The 80/20 supposition, which states that about 8 of 10 reports of hauntings will either be disproven or remain unexplained, with approximately 2 cases yielding actual paranormal activity, is a fairly widely adhered to model by most investigators. I find that those numbers work pretty well, but sometimes you can go through stretches where you are actually finding case after case with paranormal activity. But being the idealistic skeptic, I like to fall back on the fact that paranormal activity, by definition, is simply something that science has yet to base in fact, and could be a multitude of things other than what we define as spirit activity. Remember that man had no idea what fire was at one point in time, and it was likely revered as a magical and unexplainable circumstance. Some day we'll know what spirits really are, too.

Looks like you and I follow the same train of logic. Although to be honest I am unsure about the existence of spirits. But I do believe that anormalies occur and those are things not yet explained by science but doesn't necessarily make them supernatural either. I like your fire example, I myself, often use the lightening example about how there was a time that mankind had thought that lightening was gods or gods speaking to them. So in those days, lightening was paranormal.

I'd like to see a conference of this magnitude in the Boston area, too. I only live 85 miles away (I'm in southern NH.) In fact, my next Ghost Science class is on Friday, May 16, at 6PM at the Boston Center for Adult Education..... why don't you come on by? www.bcae.org/ecat
