Most of my dreams are about work. Needless to say I would rather not dream.

I have very interesting dreams. Some seem to be a skosh - um - shall we say prophetic? For instance, two things that I seem dialed into - I will dream of earthquakes and train derailments right before they occur. I know - weird. Also, when I first met my husband I had a (content withheld) dream, which was funny because I thought he was a total pig when I met him. I woke up thinking "ewwwwwwwww". Within a few months we were dating, and the man is truly the love of my life. I used to have dreams about my son before he was born. In the dreams, he looked exactly like he did as a baby - so I "saw" the way he looked before he was born. I've dreamed of relatives dying right before the die. That type of thing.

I had a dream about my ex-husband, someone I hadn't thought about for a long time. I won't get into the details, but I wrote about the dream in my journal because it really upset me.
About 3 months later I was notified by the military of his death. He still had me listed as his next of kin. He died around the same time that I had the dream. (It took so long to track me down because I was remarried and living in a different country.)
That dream still affects me. I like to think maybe he was just saying "I'm sorry" and "Goodbye". Probably just wishful thinking, but a nice thought nonetheless.

I spent my childhood attending funerals of family members and watching my pets being murdered by my father because they displeased him. The HE died of a stroke when I was 12. I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. My nightmares can be extremely intense.
From the time I was 12 until about 2 years ago I would average 2 nightmares a week. I would see ghosts and dead people walking around. If I were feeling stressed in my life, I would dream of endless cemeteries.
A couple of years ago I meet someone on skiffy who has experienced enlightenment (in the Buddhist sense) and who agreed to teach me. Now I only have nightmares about once every 3 months, when I'm VERY stressed. And I've gotten my PTSD down to "traits."
The most recent nightmare was about 3 months ago, when I ended a relationship with a guy I really loved. There was blood everywhere. Some was mine, and some was his. It was all over the floor and the bed, and I remember the white sheets on the bed. I chose to lay down on that bed, in all that blood. And I remember screaming. I can do lucid dreaming, and I remember making the decision to lay there.
I never dream about work.

I woke up this morning after an interesting dream... I met a lady on a path, she was squinting and rubbing her eyes saying her contacts were dry and one fell out. I offered her my glasses and she put them on, but immediately said they weren't strong enough and gave her a headache- but she walked off with them! I woke up a little frustrated!

My first husband suffered from it, and I know it isn't an easy thing to live with. Nightmares and night terrors are very common in creative individuals. I also learned to lucid dream in order to deal with nightmares. I don't have them very often anymore, although I still get the occassional night terror (where you have no memory of the dream, you just know it was scary).

Perhaps you are feeling unappreciated for all of the goods things you do for others? I think that is a common theme for many women.

Echoing that sentiment, for me, my dreams act as consistent and symbolic representations of the relationships and emotional triumphs/troubles tied to them.

I had the best dream last night!
I dreamed that instead of typing things into the forum, everyone was transmitting these really pretty colors onto the site. Everyone had thier own special colors (Hoobsmom was sunny yellow with bits of light blue, KarinaKay was fushia and deep blue with bits of sparkly red, JJ was mostly periwinkle, Lit was amber/honey, cougarbob was red/orange...)
The more people joining the site, the prettier the colors got. What a nice dream!
