I have mixed feeling about dousing rods. One thing is the person could easily be turning the rods is his or her hand. What do you think?

I have mixed feeling about dousing rods. One thing is the person could easily be turning the rods is his or her hand. What do you think? My uncle used to claim he could find a spot to dig a water well by dowsing. He called it "water witching" but it's the same thing. Of course, I though he was just yanking me around. Turns out people actually paid him to do it, and he had a really good record for finding producing water wells. He used a stick (hickory I think) or welding rods which he claimed worked as well as hickory if the water was high in mineral content. But you know what? Given the area he was in, they probably could have sunk a well anywhere and hit water, so I'm still not convinced. I'll bet if someone ran a scientific test, it would show results equivalent to chance. You know how Kosol's machine can do anything? Dowsers claim dowsing can find anything, and that makes me suspicious.

I think dowsing rods are kind of weird. I hear that you can "program" them to find a specific thing. I've heard them being used to find water, electromagnetic fields, and "ghosts." There was even one case I heard about where a lady was using them to supposedly contact her spirit guides. So far I'm pretty doubtful of them.

To me , they seem to be nothing more than a static cling type of equipment. Some type of electromagnetic crap kicks it into crossing .. like static cling the rods are drawn together.. I dont know how you would program them, but I know that you some metals if you rub them against a magnet they themselves become magnets, so maybe its that kinda of thing with the rods .. being metal maybe they can adapt to other items.

Weird how Ghost Hunters once used them in an episode.

Ya Kristen used them, but never again. Wonder why she gave them up. That was kinda her niche on the show.

It wasn't Kristen it was a chick named Heather something-or-other and I haven't seen her since on the show. I know on the show that she was getting close to the same readings as the EMF did.
You remember the show the door mysteriously opening was debunked as the cat opening the door.

Damn they look a like!! lol I dont know why GH doesnt use ALL available means to try and get the ghost presence. One person (Steve since he likes to ramble on like a broad) give him the rods to do while chatting .. I do think that they need to take the evp recorders away from steve and tango till they learn to SHUT UP and record. lol

I've acutally used the rods. At my sisters house that has a lot of activity in it. She bought them and we were asking questions. Now my sister is my step sister so we are not blood related. And she is also my founder. We asked a question "Are you related to anyone in this house?" And it pointed to my 3 step sisters my step brothers my neice and 2 newphews. It passed me by and my brother in law by. We asked who it was and started saying the names of people who died. And it went NUTS when we said Jackie. When we said other names they stayed still. Until we reached Jackie and it spun so fast I thought my sister was going to drop them. Jackie told us that he son was sick. Or thats what we think she told us by the rods. So I pretty much believe in these things.

damn!! that is awesome! see would rather use the rods in a home than a ouija board. I think rods are more of a communicator and ouija is more of a trigger "doorway" so to speak. I would love to use the rods.

They actually do move on their own, quite easily.
Don't laugh, ok... but I made my own out of wire coat hangers and walked around our home and 1.5 acre property. They moved in response to fields of energy- sometimes crossing, other times moving sharply away from one another and banging against my arms. I believe these fields are a result of either the earth's natural magnetic pull, electrical fields, and sources of water- which actually have a magnetic pull. My kids thought I was faking them out until I put them in their hands, and it did the same thing for them in the same, exact spots.
It's a fun experiment. I didn't bring the supernatural into it; just showed them how the rods react to unseen natural forces around us. They got a kick out of it.

That would be an awesome way to learn about the various energy fields in our world. You must be an awesome mom, JJ.

isn't through the use of dousing rods that they determine the lay lines over a certian piece of land???
