I just don't think that felons should keep their right to vote while in jail. IMO

They're in there because they can't function as members of american society so they shouldn't be given the chance to vote. I understand that voting is a right but when you do something that gets you landed in prison then you've just done that to yourself and that's what happens. Prison isn't a place for people to enjoy and be happy, it's to learn what you did wrong and correct that...
which leads me to another issue, do prisons really work? but that's another question for another day...

The way I see it, when someone is in prison, they have given up their rights as a citizen. Therefore, I do not believe they should have the right to vote.

I can see both sides of the issue so I will play devil's advocate for the prisoners. If they were able to vote they would have some input in reforming the prison system that doesn't work. Part of the reason they are in there in the first place is because of crappy education. People who aren't incarcerated could give two craps about the prison system other than the tax burden.

I voted no. Prisoners have lost their right to remain free under the law, and I agree that they should lose their right to vote as well. But once they are out of prison, of course, they should be allowed to vote.

Those convicted of felonies lose their right to vote in most cases. Those convicted of misdemeanors generally do not lose that right.
There are also cases of those who lose that right can gain it back after their sentence is served.
