Ghost Adventures - 11/21/08 - Abandoned Psychiatric Hospital, Northern New Jersey
The Ghost Adventures crew traveled to an unnamed psychiatric hospital in Northern New Jersey. The hospital and it's exact location remained undisclosed to protect the privacy of people who had been there as patients.
History - In 1895, the county began building the facility. The hospital was a self-sufficient system with it's own farms, tailor shop, bakery and groundskeeping crew. The hospital's many buildings are connected by tunnels.
During this time period, people viewed mental patients as needing to be locked up away from society. Barbaric therapies, such as shock therapy and hydro therapy, were common at this time. Over 10,000 people died at this hospital.
Reported Hauntings - Experiences vary from cold feelings to full-bodied apparitions. A common sight is a nurse in full uniform making her rounds. Disembodied voices have been heard in the tunnels.
An independent film-maker, Chris Notarile, filmed in one of the buildings. They caught an unexplained voice saying "Hello" while filming.
Tom Hamilton, the hospital Assistant Director, has taken pictures of unusually shaped orbs. He has also experienced cold chills in certain areas.
The Investigation - The crew began by using the dark light in the area where an apparition of a nurse had been seen. The dark light is said to basically attract spirits. While using it, Zak and Nick heard voices and they both felt chilled. Nick began to feel very sad as if he was feeling the emotions of the entities in the area. They began doing an EVP session and heard a disembodied voice which was caught on the recorder. A moment later a loud bang was heard from the next room. When they went to investigate, they heard a disembodied female voice clearly say "Hello".
Zak decided to put on a straight jacket to attempt to lure any spirits while conducting an EVP session. A voice saying "Help me" was caught on the recorder. Zak told the spirit to make a noise on the count of three...a few seconds after he said three, the sound of one the room doors creaking was heard. The crew placed a static night vision camera in the hallway.
The crew proceeded to investigate the tunnels under the hospital. Nick claimed to hear a voice and a moment later, Zak saw a hand move in front of him and felt an icy pressure on his arm. Upon review of Zak's camera, the shadow of an arm can be seen moving. This only appeared on Zak's camera and comparing the footage to Aaron's camera shows that Zak did not move his arm. A ball of light can be seen on Aaron's camera moving towards Zak immediately before Zak reacts to what he saw and felt. Nick did an EMF sweep and found a few spikes. The crew followed the EMF spikes further into the tunnels.
Following the tunnels lead the crew to the morgue. Nick decided to lay on one of the body trays in the body storage cooler with the door shut. he decided to do EVP's while Zak and Aaron sat in an old patient ward. They heard what sounded like the voice of a young girl singing.
At the same time, Nick was hearing sounds outside of the body cooler and the temperature dropped. He caught an EVP that sounded like it said "die". Nick began to panic and kick the door while calling for help. Zak and Aaron tried to find their way back to the morgue and felt as though something was following them. After getting Nick out of the body cooler, the camera caught an orb moving around his head right before he felt a slap across his face. Nick's cheek was visibly red.
After the investigation, the crew went to Phoenix, Arizona to meet with Bryan Abel, a paranormal investigator with over 25 years experience. Bryan reviewed the video of the orb moving around Nick and believed the orb is spirit energy intelligently investigating Nick. Bryan also reviewed the video of the hand that Zak caught. He believed this video was also legit and proof of something paranormal.
This investigation was very interesting and the evidence was unusual. I have no explanation for Zak's hand video because multiple cameras were being used and showed that no one from the crew moved their arms. Even though I don't put much weight on orbs, the video of the orb moving around Nick was interesting because if it had been a bug, it seems that Nick would have reacted to feeling a bug around his head, but he did not. The orb did not move as though it were dust either - it stopped in mid-air and changed directions more than once. The disembodied voices were very clear yet did not sound "fake" as though they came from a recorder. They had an echo-y quality that would be expected in an empty hospital.

A little bit of researched produced the actual name and location of the hospital:
