Hrre are a few Urban Legends that I have read in the forums and thotoughly enjoyed. Truth or not they are all cool reading..
Emo's grave
It is supposed to be in the City Cemetery that happened to be up on the hill above the city (well it was when I was in high school, now it's surrounded by BIG houses) and you were often taken there by your date...you probaly know where that was leading, hey it was the early 1970's the worst that could happen was, well you know. But I digress, so the point was to go around the cemetery looking for Emo's grave, and sometimes you would see ghosts and hear things and get scared and any way the grave was allegedly haunted for some reason. Now that I think about it was a pretty lame way to get girls scared and clingy to their dates and that obviously would lead to a great (depending upon the guy) make out session!!
My favorite local UL has got to be "Pig Dog" only because I've had my own, personal run in with it.
It is a supposed be crossbreed between a pig and a dog... of course.
Local animal control has been trying to capture it for years but it seems to be very elusive, they claim it simply vanishes when approached.
Anyhow, my encounter with what may have been PigDog was in a park late at nigh around 2:00 AM. We were out catching frogs because that is what boredom will drive you to do.
As we were approaching the stream this shaggy, four legged thing came out of the wood line and started making the most hideous squealing like bark at us. We shined our lights on it, it was a bit too far away to make out in any detail. But I swear it did look like a dog with a snout. And then it ran back into the woods and we heard it's hideous call in the far off distance, in fact, too far off for the short amount of time it had to get that far away. Needless to say, we packed it in and went home after that.
Now, people could say that it was a wild bore, but as far as I know we have none here in Michigan. At least none I have ever seen. Also this thing has made it's appearance in residential areas as well rural. It sure does seem to cover some ground.
I call this an Urban Legend because I seriously doubt that a dog and a pig could be cross bread. And the sightings have probably gone on much longer than a dog or a pig's lifespan. I think it's just very ugly stray dogs that have been turning up now and again over the years.
One of our most blown-out-of-proportion urban legends is "Hell Town" or "Mutane Town". It's an area of old mill towns that's reportedly haunted. In the 70's (I think), the government bought up many of the houses to preserve the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Some of the homes were torn down, while others are still sitting empty or are used for park offices. The legend is that the area was abondoned after the government had an accident with butane waste and caused horrible mutations (hence the name "Mutane Town"), which, of course, was not the case. Some roads (including one that I used to live on) where closed at each end to make walking paths through the park or because the towns didn't want to pay for repairs. This website has a lot of info on all the different stories about Hell Town Hell Town
The End of the World is pretty cool - you do feel like you're driving of a cliff or something. And there really is Satanic activity in the area. An empty house that stood on park land, but was privately owned, was recently moved because the cops were tired of the cults causing problems in it. Actually, the house is pictured on that website next to the school bus legend. Otherwise, it's a beautiful area.
Only one I can think of from around this area is the story about a haunting of a local cheesy motel. A local figure was a transvestite, who went on to have a sex change operation. He was murdered several years later at this particular motel. (This is true, I'm not making it up!)
It is said that he haunts a particular room of the motel. Now, I haven't stayed there, but have heard that for years.
I will say that I'd LOVE to have some evidence of a transvestite ghost. Wouldn't that liven up Ghost Hunters? (No disrespect intended for the man, of course.)
Edit: OOPS, I meant no disrespect to the woman, of course.
This is one of my favorites:
One night a woman went out for drinks with her girlfriends and at the end of the night she left the bar alone. On her way home, her route took her onto a deserted highway. She noticed a lone pair of headlights quickly approaching her car from behind. As the car came closer she noticed that it’s turn signal was on, the car was going to pass.
Just as it moved over to begin passing, suddenly the driver swerved back behind her car, pulled up dangerously close to her tailgate and flashed the high beams at her.
She started getting nervous and kept an eye on the strange vehicle in the rear view mirror. The headlights dimmed for a moment and then the high beams flashed again and the car behind her surged forward. The frightened woman struggled to keep her eyes on the road and fought the urge to keep looking at the car behind her. Finally, she approached her exit but the car continued to follow, flashing the high beams periodically.
Through every stoplight and turn, it followed her until she pulled into her driveway. She figured her only hope was to make a mad dash into the house and call the police. As she flew from the car, so did the driver of the car behind her — and he screamed, "Lock the door and call the police! Call 911!"
When the police arrived the horrible truth was finally revealed to the woman. The man in the car had been trying to save her. As he pulled up behind her and his headlights illuminated her car, he saw the silhouette of a man with a butcher knife rising up from the back seat to stab her, so he flashed his high beams and the figure crouched back down.

the legand around here is that if you go to a certain cemetary at night and park your car at the bottom of a small hill in the back leave it in neutral,it will move up the hill on its own.then you wait and you will see the "lady in white"she has been haunting the cemetary for years.lol
this is great.
now,we all have heard about the cars moving uphill by themselves, its an optical illusion of course.
the lady in white???lol
Back in the 60's my grandparents lived across the street from this cemetary. In the hot summer nights when my grandmother couldnt sleep, she took walks in the cemetary in her white nightgown.sometimes people would go driving down the street slowly and see her out there walking, there you go, the lady in white!!!!
people still tell this story today and it makes me laugh every time.
All good reading.
