Outer body experiences are different than that of Near Death Experience as far as the circumstances surrounding them differ. With Outer Body experiences they are either volunatarily or involuntarily induced, and life or death situation is unnecessary unlike NDEs where a patient is actually in the process of dying. Many people around the world report doing certain things and practicing on how to cause themselves to have an OBE.
So I am wondering if you, or a friend/relative, have ever had something happen that you, thought was an OBE. Do you believe in them?

They sound kind of bunk to me, how can you be out of your body? I know a lot of people do believe in it so I mean no direspect but I just don't think it can happen.
I think if anything they make themselves think they're out of body while they're still just somewhere in their mind.

I was reading a book about meditation, and the book provided a Hindu chant that supposedly allowed you to leave your body, and travel anywhere you wanted to go.
The book warned that it required practice, and when you succeed you need to stay focused, because if you lose focus you'll immediately return to your body.
So, I tried the chant (silently, in my head, as recommended in the book) while attempting to meditate.
Suddenly, I realized I was standing in a place that I could not identify.
I thought, "holy crap!" and I immediately "snapped" back to consciousness. BTW: Snapped is the best way I can describe it. It was like I was attached to a stretched rubber band, and it just snapped me back.
I was never able to duplicate the experience.
Real? Dream? Who knows?

I've experienced it as well as seen others doing it. Let's just say the first time I did it the experience was creepy. After that, it just took a lot of practice and patience. I won't down on anyone who disbelieves it, everyone has a right to their own opinion. But for me, it's very real.
