(Some variations have the couple parked at a lover's lane trying to get intimate)
This young couple had decided on a week-end camping trip into the country. It was a nice day out and the weather was said to be beautiful, no chance of rain. As they were pulling up to the camp ground, an APB alert interupted their otherwise regularily broadcasted radio station. The broadcast explained how there was an escaped mental patient on the loose, and that this particular mental patient was a serial killer deemed criminally insane. Also, he was being described as a very large male, with messy dark brown hair, and had a hook inplace of his hand. The public was urged to keep all their windows and doors locked and not to go out unless absolutely necessary. Although the young man seemed to have no care in the world, the young lady increasingly paled and goosebumped upon listening to such news. "Hey, don't sweat it! He won't show up here. We'll be just fine" said the young man to his girlfriend as they pulled into the camp site. She returned his reassurance with a sheepish grin, for she wasn't so sure about this whole camping idea anymore.
Hours later, the young woman tried not to worry, she tried to relax as her boyfriend seemed hardly troubled at all. But she just couldn't shake her bad feeling and startled at every little sound in the woods. Naturally her boyfriend would notice and assure her that these noises must be from some kind of small animal. But the noises started getting more frequent and seemed much closer. The young lady was pale and frightened, she paced back and forth, staring out into the dark, just couldn't settle in and relax. Although her boyfriend seemed not troubled, fortunately he noticed her concerned and even though he believed she was acting overly paranoid, nevertheless, he decided that it isn't going to be a very fun trip if she's behaving like this all night. He finally broke the silence, "Ya know, we don't have to stay out here tonight. Let's just go home, camp at your house with hot chocolate and some movies, and try this some other time okay?" With a sigh of relief she told him that would be a great idea and at once started packing her belongings.
As they were packing up to go, she noticed that his nerves were getting edgey as well. It seemed that once they planned to leave, the noises in the woods were getting louder rather than more subtle. It seemed whatever was making the noises was less concerned about how well they could be heard. Every time the boyfriend looked out into that direction, the noises would come to an abrupt hault. This alarmed him greatly but he didn't want to let his girlfriend know how concerned he was. Instead, he decided if he faced that area seeming like he was looking, he would keep whatever was making the noises at bay. Finally, they were all packed up and ready to go! Both seemed very eager to get out of there at once!
"Oh my goodness, hurry!" shrieked the girl as her boyfriend was having trouble starting the car. Even though it was only a few minutes, it seemed like forever to the occupents of the car. Finally, after the fourth try the car's engine car a roar and they tore off out of there fast as they could! An hour later they made it home feeling much safer and far away from this escaped maniac. The boyfriend, being the gentleman that he was, went over to open the door for her his girlfriend to get out. She looked out at him and smiled, and while thinking of what a nice guy he was, as he started to open the door he let out a short scream and jumped back as if touching the door handle was like touching a hot coal. There on the passenger side door handle was a bloody hook that had lost it's owner way back in the country at a lonely camp site. They had gotten away just in time!
