OK it is very funny over on Scifi people are really upset about someone trying to fool J and G. What a load of crap. I think it was all for show. Because it is a TV show. I just took a peek over there, too. What a laugh!

Stick, Spencer Gray is the executive chef. He's neither the owner nor the manager. www.mossbeachdistillery.com/chef.htmlThis is suspicious in itself. Why this guy? I don't think this guy has been there that long. And his claim to want "someone to put to rest these questions that have been haunting us" is nonsensical given the work of previous investigators at the Distillery. Michael Well, manager, executive chef, or the guy who replaces the urinal mints, the point is he had to be part of the set up. "Oh, I forgot..." doesn't ring true. Hell, he might be the executive chef only for the purposes of this episode (and if he is the chef, based on the food reviews I've read, he's not much of a chef). FYI: According to the web site, MBD Chefs are: EXECUTIVE CHEF: Brian Barisione SOUS CHEF: Santiago Flores FURTHER INFO: I was able to find a page reference to Executive Chef Spencer Gray at MBD. It had a 2008 Date. However, on the 'MENUS' page it lists Barisione as EC. Someone else noted that 'some people will do anything to be on TV.' That probably answers the question, "why this guy?" and probably explains why my concern for the poor jamoke is misplaced. Paraphrasing Danny Vermin, "I was on TV once. ONCE!" I appreciated you're post from Auerbach. I especially liked his comment re; SciFi and what the 'Fi' stands for. We sometimes forget this is just a TV show. He also noted that one night does not an investigation make. He's right. TAPS is always looking for a hurricane, but the paranormal is a gentle, summer breeze.

That laughter in the ladies' room was so cheesy. How can someone NOT know it's staged, never mind Jason and Grant? I think the simple fact that Moss Beech didn't disconnect it shows that they were not trying to fool them or hide anything.

My initial take on this episode was that the producers must actually be paying attention to our critiques of GH on the various message boards. Since the begining of Season 4, we have all been complaining about things we miss from the old days. Brian comes to mind. Many of us miss the humor he brought to the show. So they had someone moon Grant at the start of the show, and Steve scared Tango. So the humor thing was covered.
Then, of course, there was all the soapy drama leading up to the show, with Grant and Brian's myspace hissy fight. Because we have been complaining about the lack of characters (like Brian) interacting with J&G. So they actually brought Brian in by proxy through the internet!
Come to think of it, Michael, are you sure you aren't on the payroll too? You've done a great job of getting us interested in watching this episode by giving us all this great background information. If you aren't on the payroll, you should be!
As scientific investigations go, Moss Beach was a dud. But as far as entertainment goes, this is one of the best episodes in a long time! Even if the message boards are more interesting than the show, Pilgrim still got us to look.

I wanted to come into this show fresh, so I didn't read any threads, watch any promos, or chat about the content of this show at all. I'm glad I did...
As soon as impropriety was indicated, I was hooked- I wanted to see J/G take this guy out to the woodshed. Great TV!
As a side note, from moment one, the executive chef's nonverbal screamed liar liar pants on fire.

What puzzles me is that they drove all the way out to the Central Coast of Cali for this dud and were within a stones-throw of Brookdale Lodge and Apple Lane B&B. I know this area well, lived there for 5 years. Both of these places are famously haunted and truly fun to explore. TAPS missed the boat on this one, big time. It's a shame they wasted all the fuel for one gig. You can tour the Apple Lane grounds in Aptos without staying the B/B- great history: www.applelaneinn.com/And Brookdale has been featured in numerous other haunted location shows (not Most Haunted) on the Travel Channel- a river literally runs through it: www.brookdaleinnandspa.com/history.html

JJ, I suspect they go where the money is. It would have given publicity to the MBD, and a different location for TAPS (because we all like watching episodes of places nearby). Good marketing scheme!

I've seen the Brookdale on TV. Looks like a neat place. Supposed to be a little girl that drowned in the river, or something, yes? I wonder if they have a little girl dummy on a rope that they drag through the water in order to "enhance" the experience for the quests. I'd like that job. I could be the Brookdale dummy dragger. I could use the work.

Why not start off talking about the rigged effects, and how the investigation was targeted on locations where there was reported paranormal activity, but were not rigged? They could have referred to previous investigations, and worked to debunk/support those. That would have made them look more like professionals, and less like prima donnas. Producers...
