My apologies if this has already been discussed.....
I am interested in knowing more about the device they used on paranormal state in last night's episode. I thought it was called an "obulis", but noticed someone else called it an "obelisk." If anyone has a link to more information, I would certainly appreciate it!
Thanks!

Ha! My bad- I heard the word "obelisk" probably because I've heard that word before. An obelisk is actually an architectural term for a structure like the Washington Monument- narrow, four sides, pyramid shaped top. OK, done rambling.

I even tried Googling "obelisk device" and similar things at first. Only after finding the PS forum did I see how it was spelled.

You're awesome Foz! Thanks a bunch. Cant wait to read about it. You're very welcome, Durbry! I listened to some of those wav files you posted and I'm not buying the accuracy/authenticity of the device for paranormal research. The words seem so random. Perhaps it is using environmental factors to chose the words (i.e. EMF's, geology, etc) but I doubt it's spirits generating anything.

I have been listening to a radio show featuring the creator of the Ovilus. His name is Bill Chappell. He is skeptical as well as to what it is that motivates the machine, but he shared some very interesting information. To listen to the podcast, just click on the link below and scroll down to the show listing Bill Chappell. I would love any feedback from those of you who listened to it. www.darknessradio.com/

I have never heard of darkness radio. I will have to check it out. Is it all different kinds of paranormal activity? Or just haunting.

This thing puts out some creepy sounding voices. I have to agree with foz and say im not really sold on it yet. But, what else do we have in this field that produces anything with validity. Not much.
I had a chuckle when i read the manual stating, "Do not use alcohol and operate this." .

Yeah, and since it picks up on environmental clues, it would start spouting things like, "Drunk." "Wino." "Lush."

Yeah, the alcohol warning gave me a chuckle too...lol.
And I've never listened to Darkness Radio before either, but the guys doing it seemed very professional and they get really good guests!

The thing is limited by the words it has programmed into it. It has to find a match as best it can based on a lot of randomness.

Ya it says it has 512 words programmed for dictionary mode.
