That's all we need. Another paranormal show.
CougarBob, I agree. We need to apply Ockham's Razor and not multiply paranormal shows beyond necessity, especially when the shows are nothing but a trivial variation on what's already being done. More importantly, going on my 13th year teaching in higher education I can assure you that most college students are not really capable of carrying out a reliable investigation of paranormal phenomena. They can't even carry out adequate research on mundane matters for God's sake, nor are they particularly skilled in drawing warranted conclusions from observational data. We're going to put ghost hunting in the hands of kids who can't even formulate a coherent thesis statement for a four-page essay paper? This should be astonishingly underwhelming. Michael

Michael Michael, with all the paranormal shows appearing on the horizon, is there a danger of us using up all the paranormal energy? Are the haunted houses, forts, and mansions going to be reduced to tourist spots?
Maybe it's time we started conserving our paranormal resources. Stop making ghosts reveal themselves or move something, unless there are plenty of batteries handy to draw on.

CougarBob,
It's hard to say what the long-term impact of the flood of paranormal TV shows will be. I think this genre of reality-paranormal-docudrama is quickly approaching its limit. There are only so many ways to spin this stuff and eventually people will find something new to occupy their time. I suspect we'll see a rise in the commercialism before the whole thing comes crashing down.

There is room for a limited number of shows where people sit in the dark and jump at every shadow and sound. Evidence of this is the appearance of fakery that has been trickling into the shows in an attempt to make them interesting. And it seems that the occult/paranormal become popular when things are good, and people have time on their hands - time to exercise their imaginations. But the economy is difficult, it's hard to find work, and Americans are worried. Many might choose to focus on the realities of day-to-day life rather than the "reality" of unreality TV shows. BTW: When I die, and if I can be a ghost, I hope to haunt porn movie shooting locations, NASA, The Smithsonian, and other places of interest, rather than hide behind the furnace in someone's dank basement. So, if TAPS or Ghost Adventures or Most Haunted want to find me, please tell them where to look. ;D
