The world is a strange place 1 Current mood: crazy Category: MySpace
Ok, there is just so much strange things that go on in an ordinary week that really makes you think!
1 It is is a strange world when a homeless man asks you for money for food as you enter a fast food joint, and when you offer to buy him a meal does he declines and walks away?
2 It is a strange world when you walk outside and someone is at the end of your driveway with a camcorder recording you walking to check your mail!
3 It is a strange world when a priest comes to you for a paranormal issue because his own religion declines giving him assistance.
4 It is a strange world when one of your twin sons hits the other twin son and tells you the reason he hit his brother was because his brother was thinking about hitting him!
5 It is a strange world when someone working at a movie theater recognizes you and offers to give you and your kids all free passes into the movie, but after you say thanks but decline they will not let the lady in behind you due to being .50 cents short.
6 It is a strange world when some 18 year old pulls up next to you at a red light in a 1988 Volkswagen thats burning oil and revs his engine wanting to race but then cant keep his car from stalling and you slowly idle away.
7 It is a strange world when a lightning bolt hits your home and burns out all electronics like it did to us on Tuesday, and after talking to your neighbor you find he has been hit twice this year!
8 It is a strange world when some one sends you an email saying you and them dated back in junior high and when you look them up they lived in a totally different state and have a rap sheet.
9 It is a strange world when you wake up in the morning and have two dogs and two cats laying with you, but you only own one cat!
10 it is a strange world when you sit on your back porch at 1am and after you hear a noise in the woods your Shepard's (which are trained to protect) come running and crying to you looking for protection.

Michael The attempt at sounding intelligent wasn't working, so I guess he's trying a new approach! LOL I actually like this blog. It's interesting to see how the famous are treated differently. It really says something when you and your's can get free movie tickets but the lady behind you is turned away for being a few cents short.

Ya KK it's a sad truth at the lack of generosity our world shows for people. One time I went with my son and cashed in cans, counted my change and had enough for a cheeseburger and a small fry. I must have dropped a nickel because I went in with a dollar ninety five and ordered my two dollar order and the lady turned my away. In a lobby full of people standing there watching not one person offered me that nickel, and watched me walk out of that store with my child and no food. It's not that I expect someone to have to offer me money, it's just that if I was there as a bystander and saw a girl five cents short of feeding her child I would not be able to sleep at night if I didnt offer her a nickel.

I'm so sorry that happened to you :-( I'm the same way. No way would I not have helped. I no doubt would have given more than a nickel. Jason said she was turned away. I wonder if he gave her the needed change?

You know what's irritating.. when I go to the grocery store and somebody doesn't have their club card. I'll offer to lend them my number, but most of the time, the cashier tells me that's not allowed. So basically (whether it makes "good sense" for the business itself) it totally screws the person who might have saved some money. I hate that.

Unbelievable, KM, and incredibly sad that not even the clerk had the decency to contribute a lousy nickel. It feels so good when you have been able to help someone out, even if you don't have much yourself. Certainly someone in that crowd had five cents to spare.

I saw a news story where a man was hit by a car in a hit and run on a busy street in the middle of the day. Cars continued to drive past both ways and bystanders on the sidewalk left him there in the middle of the road and continued walking. Not one person stepped into the street to help this dying elderly man. A police officer who happened to be driving through saw him and stopped. Noone had even called an ambulance or police for the poor guy. I don't remember if he made it but after reading that story, I felt disgusted and sick.

Actually, That story doesn't have all the facts (I live in the state where this happened). After decrying the residents of the city for their thoughtless and careless actions, the police discovered that there were at least four 911 calls about the incident. The victim is alive, but paralyzed (as far as I know, I haven't checked the latest wires yet) and the police are still looking for the hit and run drivers. Ironicly, a few days after this happened, a coworker of mine was in a hit and run accident driving into work. The police (the same police that denounced the city's apathy earlier) took three hours to respond, and even though they had a license plate and car description (given by a witness of the accident), they told him that his insurance would have to pay for it since they couldn't find any information for the plate number given.

Wow, that's disgusting GG.
I saw the footage of that story and it was very disturbing to see the guy get hit and lay there on the street while someone crossed the street barely giving him a glance.
Sick world sometimes.

Sick world sometimes. My co-worker was okay, it was just his car that needed repairs. I just find it a bit hypocritical to chastize a group of people for not caring (when, in fact, that was not the case, as denoted by the 911 calls), then do something so apathetic. And yes, that footage was really disturbing.
