Ok , I am wondering cuase its irking me. I have watched 3 shows on the Crime network about frigan alien abductions. Can someone pleaseeeee explain something to me.
If the aliens are coming here to learn about us and our intelligents etc etc.. why in the hell do they keep going to theses frigan white trash hillbillies!!!! Do they think that is the epitamy of the our intelligents.... Earl and Bubba? Doesnt make sense... if they wanted to know about our technology and things, why not go for China or Japan?

It really depends on how you look at alien abductions.
Personally, I always get the idea that the alien abductions are being done by the Grey equivalent of Marlon Perkins (or, for you youngsters, Steve Irwin).
"Welcome to Mutual of X'Ttkkxq Wild Kingdom. Today we venture to the dangerous world of Sol 3 to study a creature so primitive, it refers to its homeworld as 'Dirt' [insert condecending alien chuckle here]."

Brain scientists believe the alien abduction phenomenon to be sleep paralysis or false memories. Studies into human memory show that we don't actually recal memories - rather, we reconstruct them. For instance, consider the Rashomon effect, where witnesses give differing accounts of the same event. Are some people lying? The answer seems to be no - each witness believes their account to be the absolute truth. Why? Because the brain reconstructs memories through filters such as self-perception, intention and past experience.
A controlled study at Maastrich University in the Netherlands showed how people with memories of alien abductions actually had a greater propensity towards reconstructing false memories than those who hadn't reported alien abductions.
There's a lot more that science says about both sleep paralysis and false memories as an explanation for alien abduction - but I'm sure that if you talk to someone who believes that they have been abducted by aliens, their arguments will be equally persuasive - because their physical reactions to relating the experience will appear that they are telling the truth. So are they telling the truth, or only the truth as they have reconstructed it as a false memory? Hard saying...but definitely food for thought.

Aliens today are the witches of the past. People see them, they remember them, and they are just as real to those people as they can be. That's why examining them through hypnosis is a waste of time.
Oh, Karen, your myspace site is becoming absolutely awesome! Good job!

Thanks, Bob. Chrissy - you've given me a good article idea for Paranormal Underground. Alien abductions - I'd love to research that.

Yes, this subject is fascinating to me too. I think that there just might be an alien intelligence visiting our planet, and that many of the stories told by "witnesses" could be genuine. I also think that sleep paralysis could explain some claims of alien abduction.
I've always found some abductee stories amazing ... like Betty and Barney Hill, Travis Walton, etc. So interesting.

I think the Hills were also examined under hypnosis too. Now, with what we know about sleep paralysis and similar sleep disorders, I wonder about the authenticity of the polygraph tests and examinations under hypnosis.
The brain is so complex and difficult to understand. Probably because we are using the same instrument to analyze what is being analyzed.

Good points Bob. And it does seem that they apparently believed that they experienced something genuine.

One of the ways to pass a polygraph is to tense up your lower extremities when you are telling the truth and to relax your muscles when you lie, thus the lying response registers lower than the tension. Supposedly anyyay. Whether or not this is true I have no idea, but I've read it in a few places. So no, before you smart asses comment I don't know this from experience.
