There are two schools of thought for why these are happening. Some say that they are hoax's or geological anormalies, while others say that they are too intricate and therefore must be because of UFOs. What I personally find interesting is this only seems to happen with certain kinds of crops such as wheat, corn and barley. Doesn't seem to occur with hay or grass (correct me if I am mistaken).
What are your thoughts on these things? Could they be the result of Exterrestrial intelligence, natural occurance or simply all hoax's?

I saw a special on crop circles once that was really interesting. A group of genius kids from MIT or somewhere like that came up with a plan to fake a crop circle. They analyzed data taken from "real" crop circles and determined what metals, chemicals, etc. could be used to duplicate the chemical tests, and they experimented with how to make the crops lie flat properly. They planned out the pattern exactly how they wanted it. Then they actually made it in one night without anyone seeing them. The next day, their work was analyzed and it matched exactly to other crop circles from the area. So they basically proved that a crop circle can be faked.

and aren't they more often found in europe? or great britain and all those countries around there. i've watched specials on them and they don't seem to be found in america as often.
i would love to know if i'm right or wrong but i don't plan on researching it today. maybe another day.

Back in the 1990's there was a huge bunch of crop circles in a county near here. My husband and I weren't married at the time, but my husband saw them and he said the one thing that stuck with him was that the wheat wasn't mashed down, but it was laid down in an almost woven pattern. He is a pretty logical person, but he said the crop circles were really un-nerving.

I think it is something natural that has yet to be figured out (in some cases it is just a hoax). A similiar phenomenon called forest circles has also been attributed to things such as aliens, but scientists are investigating natural geochemical/biochemical mechanisms for the formation of these rings. www.cbc.ca/news/background/tech/science/forest-rings.html

I remember watching a program on faking them..apperantly all you need is a flat board with handles, it bends down the straw/grass without breaking it, in even patterns and depths.

I am sure a good amount of them are hoaxes or naturally caused, but these in the video above, I believe to be authentic.

So the theory here is that if a group of brainiacs from MIT can analyze, in intricate detail, an existing crop circle, and then create a fake that closely matches the one they analyzed, then all crop circles must be fake. Geez, I just realized something - the ski resort near my home makes snow, and the skiers don't seem to know the difference. That means that all the snow that falls here is made by the ski resort, and those horrible blizzards we get from time to time - all the fault of the ski resort. And I always blamed Al Gore! Sorry Alfred. They say an infinite number of monkeys at an infinite number of typewriters will eventually write all the works of Shakespeare. I'm thinking that with all the wheat, barley, etc. that is grown world-wide, it is just possible that sometimes the grain just decides to lie down in strange patterns. Or they could just be fakes. I'm open to anything.
