How do we feel about possessions? I dont know if I really beleive in them, its just another thing that I would have to see to beleive. Even then, a good actress/actor could pull it just enough to convince people it could be real. I think it would have to happen to me to make it a definite to me.

Ya know, I'm pretty open to just about anything paranormal, but I just can't quite get a grip on the possession thing. In Jason's book "Ghost Hunting" (with little excerpts from Grant) Jason talks about a few experiences with exorcisms. I don't know - I think it's more of a chemical imbalance in the brain. But there are a lot of things that we know nothing about, so I'm not going to say it's not possible.

Ok I believe in the occult and satan and deamons to start with. but I also believe that 98% or more "possessions" can be explained by mental Illness and night tremors. I have had night tremors once never want to go though it again. I could see if I was not the "incredibly Sane" {quit it Hoobs} Person I am how I could convince myself that I was being possessed.
Just my thoughts.

I lean more towards these being mentally ill people with untreated symptoms. The sad tragic case of Anneliese Michel is one such case that I believe was a young girl who's very religious family in Germany attributed her mental illness to possession, of which excorsism techniques ultimately led up to her death. This was the true story behind the Emily Rose movie. Here is a picture of Anneliese.. www.geocities.com/apostolvs/ANNELIESE.jpgHere is the story about her.. www.unitypublishing.com/Apparitions/EmilyRose.htm

I believe in God and Satan so I do believe that a very strong satanic entity could take over a mentally and spiritually weak person. So maybe that is why it seems the mentally ill are affected more. It's just my opinion though.

I'm sorry spook I had to stop reading after i read this load of BS
The important facts --- she was possessed, God allowed it, Psychiatry cannot understand Possession, Civil Governments have no right to judge the supernatural, the Virgin Mary appeared to the possessed person and asked her to remain possessed to teach the world about demons, she died in the grace of God, and maybe, just maybe, she will someday be called a saint.
I guess someone should be on there way to the Vatican getting her her sainthood. what's that you say? no one believes you at the vatican! i can't believe that!

i just don't know. i hope that there aren't demons running around forcing themselves upon people but who knows what goes on that we don't know about. and i've been in contact with a family member who was severly mentally ill and if anything she always talked about god and jesus so i don't know about those who are mentally ill.
OT has anyone see the heath ledger movie called the order. very interesting.

I think what happened to that girl was tragic and in reality a mental illness that got ignored by a zealous family aided by a priest to push it as a posession; and the jury saw it that way too when they convicted the Priest and Parents. The excorism in question deprived her of certain needs and eventually led up to her death.

I think everything seems to happen to Catholics more becuase we want sooooo much to "beleive" in God. him being there for us, and whats the best way to prove God will save us ... more than beleive in the devil. If you are "possessed by the devil" and the church comes to your side, you know you have true beliefs, but if the church leaves you in the cold ... your still in search. Its a wicked world people. everyone is looking for something to beleive in, as aweful as it sounds from someone like me ("good" catholic). but its life.
