This is the place to discuss current movies- give them a thumbs up or thumbs down (use the little message icon) and tell others here whether they should bother spending the money to see it or not.
I'll start (sorry it's going to be a negative one, but hopefully it will save someone the agony of sitting through this):
We dropped $40 to see "You Don't Mess with the Zohan" yesterday afternoon starring Adam Sandler. Thumbs DOWN!!
Don't spend your well earned money to see this debacle. From moment one, his horrible, fake Jewish accent got on my nerves. Crude and immature sexual humor made no one in the theater laugh. That's saying a lot, because it was filled with teenagers. Most of them were saying "ewww!" Throughout the whole movie he was having sex with senior citizens- strange stuff!
In a nutshell: sick, stupid, and not worth your time.
Has anyone seen the latest Indiana Jones movie? Review it here- let me know if it's worth it or not...

Also... I really wanted to know about "The Happening"-
It looked so good in trailers, but critics and viewers are pretty ho-hum about it.

I'm also interested in The Happening. I've always liked M. Night. I usually just wait most movies out until DVD. Really hard to judge a movie by its trailer, especially nowadays. I found this and if you haven't already read it, well then, maybe you shouldn't. This is the reason why i normally don't read reviews. www.collider.com/entertainment/reviews/article.asp?aid=7903&tcid=1

I want to see that too. I hope it's good. I usually enjoy Night's films, starting with the 6th Sense.

An excerpt from that article that was particularly damning for the movie: "'The Happening' is a terrible, terrible movie. I mean, it's bad on an epic scale. It's so bad that I can't possibly tell you how bad it is without understating the point or making it sound like I'm picking on the film. But let me stress: this is not pent-up Shyamalan aggression or a desire to see him fail. This is bad in a jaw-dropping "they can't really be serious, can they?" kind of way. The closest comparison I can draw is to Neil LaBute's "Wicker Man" and, like that film, the only consolation I can offer potential theater-goers is that you might want to see it just to be in on the ground floor when the film gets its hiney handed back to it."

I can't stand M Nights movies. I walked out of the Sixth Sense. Thats the only movie I've ever walked out of. I think his movies are horribly slow for their weak social commentary and 10 min ending plot twist.

Roger Ebert gave it 3 stars. I trust him and I think I'll go see it if I can. Here's a blurb from his review:Sounds pretty good to me.

I actually kind of liked Wickerman in an odd way.

My eight year old and I just watched Kunfu Panda. It is a very good kids movie. It actually kept my attention and my sons.

I just saw "The Strangers" If they had a thumbs up icon as well as a thumbs down all in one I would describe it this way.
The reasons it is thumbs up....It is very very creepy, and it is a fast paced movie so you don't get bored waiting until half way through the movie for action to happen. If you can put yourself in their shoes, imagining these weirdos with masks lurking around your house, inside and out and you are trapped, you could probably give yourself the creeps watching this movie.
The reasons it is thumbs down....It is kind of predictable to some degree. No real shocking twist to it.
Basically, it is a good movie to watch, but at home when it comes on DVD, or on one of the movie channells.
