okay anything hemingway is horrible and if i never read any of his books again i will be happy. worst, to kill a mockingbird and that ayn rand book i had to read in high school-worst ending, i mean come on the beginning was good and then a freaking sappy hiney love story and there is this new book called the road by some dude, i didnt get it and i was ticked i spent money to buy the dumb thing and im sure there are more but i can't remember right now I'm surprised they made you read Ayn Rand, As far as To kill a Mockingbird, that book was pure gold. You have Tom Robinson busting up chiffarobes, Scout, Aticcus Finch, and who can forget Boo Radley ...he was the man! The movie was great too, Gregory Peck played Aticcus, and Robert Duval played Boo (the man) Radley. you just can't go wrong.

That's odd, because I've read Michael Jan Friedman's stuff before (mostly the Star Trek stuff) and he didn't seem all that bad. I wonder why this one missed the mark? Well, GG, perhaps you can pick up the book at a thrift store someplace and read for yourself. Michael Jan Friedman wrote it in Jason's "voice" mostly rehashing episodes we've all seen 25 times by now... 'nuff said. Oh, I have it, I just haven't gotten around to reading it, which I guess is saying a lot. I mean, I read... A LOT!

I couldn't stand reading Tom Sawyer! The hated having to read Tom's really Southern accent. OK- I totally agree with you on that- maddening. A quote from The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn: "Yes-en I's rich now, come to look at it. I owns myself, en I's wuth eight hund'd dollars. I wisht I had de money, I wouldn' want no mo." I wanted to string myself up after that 400 pp of that nonsense.

I'm not big on Twain, I had to read Suck Finn and Pudd'n' Head Wilson. I read Tom Sawyer by choice. It never did much for me, although I did learn it's cool to sucker your friends into white washing your fence.

I normally pretty much like all the books that I read. My mom is trying to sell some old books on amazon, but she tried passing them on to me first. They were romance novels. Mostly the indian ones, but I did see a few nascar ones in there I tried reading them, but I just could not get into it. I'd read maybe two chapters, but I'd have to stop.

Can my answer be the BEST and the WORST book at the same time? Anyway, If you haven't had the opportunity to, take the time to read "On the Beach." Its a book about a bunch of people living in AU (Down Under). Basically, the book takes place after a Nuclear Fall-Out. Countries got mad at each other and resorted to Nuclear War. Their story takes place after all of that happened. The characters in the story are living out the last of their days before the Global Weather patterns carry the nuclear debris to them and cause everyone to die horrible illness related deaths. It is seriously a fantastically written book. However, it is one of the saddest things in the world to sit through. I'll admit it. I cried when I was reading it. pick it up from your local library or buy it on eBay or something. Its definitely worth the read and makes a good addition to a personal library.

pick it up from your local library or buy it on eBay or something. Its definitely worth the read and makes a good addition to a personal library. I've read that book a couple of times and seen both movie adaptations. It is a sad but well written book. Along the same lines as Alas Babylon and No Blade of Grass. It's the end of the world and how people cope with or survive it. The original movie starred Gregory Peck and Ava Gardener. It was slightly different from the book but excellent!
