I admit, I do beleive in ghosts and spirits both of the haunting variety and the "guardian angel" kind. But after recently watching the movie The Messangers, I am skeptical about something.
Most scary movies involving vengeful ghosts, premise the movie to show the ghost to kill people. This I dont beleive. I beleive that ghosts can give you sensations, move things , make noise etc etc. But I dont think a ghost will physically come out from under your bed and stab you repeatedly with a knife or choke you to do. I DO beleive however, that a ghost can scare you too death. Meaning, mess with your psychi so much that you really think that a ghost is strangeling or stabbing you or something and you are actually doing it yourself. Basically the ghost alters your reality basically making you insane. This is just my theory, I dont have any basis behind it but my own belief. What do you guys think. Do you think a ghost can actually kill you or just scare you to death?

Well I think you are onto something Chrissy! I have never known of any ghost to kill anyone, save for the bell witch claims and even then that should be viewed with skeptism. So I think if there was ghosts, people may be scared but try to remember that no one has been murdered by any ghost.

If people were killed by ghosts we would have heard something about it by now. There would be people putting out contracts on people by using ghosts. People would die, come back and get vengence on the people who have wronged them. I do believe they can scare the crap out of someone tho.

I think maybe someone might suffer severe trauma and the brain put's the blame on something or someone else. Can ghosts scare you? I believe so, but to death i'm not so sure of. I think that falls under the bracket of that legend if you try to shake someone to wake them up from a bad dream, they'll die. That's been proven false by any parent around. Can ghosts do us harm, I guess it depends on what you believe ghosts to be. Myself, as a Christian believe more along the lines of Demons and Angels. If I were to put myself into situations where I let demons gain control, yes I could see physical harm happening. This is probably why i've never used a quija board, however you spell it!

See I think they can "scare you to death" as this in .. you get so scared you trip... off a mountain dead.. swing at a ghost that scared you the item you swung with comes back to catch you in the head .. dead.. you get the idea

I think it's very possible that a ghost can scare you to death... But also think about this, some of us agree that what happened to Frank with his sound gear wasn't faked.. So if a ghost *can* do that, what else can it do? You hear about people getting shoved... etc. I dunno lol, I guess I'm still trying to figure out answers

I think something, energy or whatever, caused the bag to move. Remember there were cold spots being found all over the place at that moment. Something was drawing energy to do something. Maybe it was to lift the bag. Was it intelligent? I don't know and kind of doubt it. It just moved the bag. In this case it moved up and Frank's chin was in the way. BOOM, down went Frank. And, big BOOM, he landed flat on his back on the cement floor and knocked the wind out of himself.

In the Armory episode we all saw Frank the "honest" cameraman get leveled by his bag--moved by the unknown...
The footage was so dark that it was difficult to determine what was happening to the bag. The Ghost Hunters have an investment in getting the people watching to believe that Frank's bag moved by itself--they make a point of constantly analyzing the footage while making the claim that he couldn't have moved it himself.
If we believe that the Ghost Hunters (original--not GHI) are entirely honest--and I certainly don't--we still have very weak footage that shows Frank's right side very unclearly (not to mention possible interference by another member accidentally). If we believe tampering and manipulation are present then any number of hypotheses could be put forward as to who, what, and why.
I wouldn't get too excited by the "Armory" footage--nor think it is solid evidence of the physical manipulation of anything by paranormal means. The only thing I would posit from the footage is that Frank cries very easily for a grown man hit by an equipment bag. So sans a half an hour of waterworks, there is very little evidence available to the viewers of Ghost Hunters on this episode.

PGA What always bothered me about Frank getting clocked was not Frank but the fact that Steve raises his arms to follow a cold spot or some such. I always found this most distracting, I feel it does it's job to deter our attention from Frank at the moment he gets "hit". Perhaps I'm looking into it too deeply but it reminds of a magician showing you one hand and using the other to fool you.

I enjoyed the Brian H./Steve vengeance ghost hunt that insued after Frank was hit--you can't fake that kind of stupidity. So I stand corrected--we know 2 facts: Frank cries alot, and Brian and Steve are mentally unstable.
