I just read this now.
What I dont understand, is she wanted to end the "relationship" between "Josh" and the girl. So why not get rid of the myspace account all together. Dont message her back or anything. But to say the world would be better of without you to a 13 year old?? Are you kidding me? I know the girl was depressed, but thats just putting the cherry on top. Some grown up's still need to grow up. This woman had a child herself. She should have thought, "what would I do if this was someones mother messing with my child." But unforunally she didn't. And a innocent child is dead. I hate reading stories like this. It makes me mad.

That woman not only had a child, but she had the mentality of a child.

She didn't just want to stop the game or care about just having second thoughts and undoing it all, the only thing she cared about was how to inflict the most amount of emotional pain on a 13 year old. The note that ended with the world being a better place with out the girl alive had also before that told the girl that she was a very bad person and not nice to her friends...rah rah rah. So this woman or her little 19 year old side kick can preach all they want, but it's obvious to anyone by the way the note was, that the object was to crush this girl, not simply just grow up and remember that they were adults after all and end the games.

I think the woman should be charged with murder! Sorry it hits close to home. And I hate hearing about children dying. IDK what I would do if this happened to my son. I think I'd be going to jail if I was the girls mother.

Oh, Lou I totally agree. Adults have to be held accountable for things they do to children. She may have had isssues of her own but what she did was unexcusable. Everytime I think about this my blood boils. If I was that girls mom I would have kicked her hiney. I know it is stupid to say that but I know how vulnerable teenes are and I cannot stand that a mother victimized a child. She also has shown no remorse for what she has done. If she were to seek help for herself and admit she did something awful I would have some pity for her. She would still have to be punished though so that no other adult can think that they would be able to do something like this again.

What worries me are the copycats that are going to be doing this kinda stuff now that they've read about it.

What worries me are the copycats that are going to be doing this kinda stuff now that they've read about it. Very true Chelle. We have to worry about internet pervs with our kids and now we have to worry about sicko adults seeking revenge on kids. That is why she needs to be made an example of. I have nieces who have free access to the internet and I could see them getting involved with a boy online and taking it seriously. But this is why it is so important to monitor out kids. We still cannot see eveerything but at least watch for red flags.

I think people need to act there frigan age and stop trying to live through their kids! I am glad she got this , maybe it will show the "stay at home soccer moms" that they are not invinsible, and if it was my kid she did this too I would have punched her face in. Though I think there was more going on with the girl to take her own life, I just think this was the straw on the camels back. But adults should know better.

I agree you two. I remember when I first got on the internet, it was really easy to fall for a "charming" guy. Esp. an older one who seemed to take interest. I think it's all to easy for that to happen to anyone on the net. Sadly, there are predators out there or sick people who like to play jokes, that never think of the consequences of their actions.

This happened not to far from where I lived. The local cops said there was nothing they could do and that no laws in Missouri had been broken. I am so proud of the prosecutor in LA who figured out that the servers were in California, therefore the crime was committed in California. There are laws against this kind of activity in California, so they pressed charges here. What's nice is that even if Lori Drew slips out of this one, she will be out the legal fees and everyone will know her name. And, if she is found guilty, it opens up the door for civil actions by Megan Meier's parents.
There is NO excuse for preying on a young person like that. Teenagers have enough pressure and the teen suicide rate is at epidemic proportions without adults f*cking with their heads.
Sorry for the language, but being a teacher, this issue really fires me up.

Sorry for the language, but being a teacher, this issue really fires me up. completely agree! and as a mom .. you can screw with me all you want, but screw with my kid... and you will see how crazy this bitch can get. This is also another reason I dont think you children should be on the net without a blocker or parents actually watching what they are doing. People are far too nieve and seems parents these days want their children to grow up to quickly.... hence these issues. Parents should grow up and realize children are exactly that .. children, not their best buds and not mini adults... but children and let them enjoy that ! Let them have their fun while they can and get a life of their own. Mini rant ova

The really sad thing is that Megan's parents were aware of the problem and had been discussing it with her, and were discussing with each other it while making dinner at the same time Megan was hanging herself upstairs in her closet.

Her parents were aware of the problem? Wonder how they found out? Did Megan come to them for support, but end up feeling helpless anyway?

To what detail, I don't know. But her parents were worried about it and were talking about what to do about it at the same time she was upstairs hanging herself. They obviously had no idea to what extent the problem had grown.
Teenagers often have problems discussing romantic issues with others, especially parents. As a high school teacher, I see it all the time. They think that they're the first ones to ever feel that way or the only one to feel that way, etc.
